Title: Creative Director
Location: Southwest Washington
Compensation: $8,000-$10,000/month
ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN
Marie Gluesenkamp Perez represents Washington’s 3rd Congressional District. She is a small business owner and mom of a toddler who flipped a Trump +4 district by showing up everywhere, actually listening to people, and focusing on the real-world problems of working people.
Marie For Congress is one of the most successful House campaigns in the country, developing and deploying innovative strategies in some of the nation’s most competitive terrain.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Creative Director will help document, communicate, and amplify Marie’s work, conversations, and community engagement across digital platforms. This role also provides creative oversight across the campaign’s broader visual output to ensure consistency, clarity, and authenticity in how Marie’s work is presented to the public.
The position focuses on capturing real moments, producing high quality video content, and stewarding the campaign’s overall visual identity so that all materials reflect Marie’s voice and values.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Creative Direction & Planning
- Translate Marie’s ongoing work, policy, and ideas into public-facing content.
- Develop content deployment strategy and an ongoing content calendar.
- Maintain a real-time working understanding of the district’s local issues, communities, and culture.
- Identify high-performing or strategically important content for paid amplification, and coordinate with the digital or compliance team on execution of boosts.
Content Production
- Capture photo and video content at events, community gatherings, meetings, and campaign activities.
- Produce direct-to-camera, rapid-response, and longer-form video content in multiple formats.
- Edit videos for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and X with platform-native best practices.
- Create graphics, cut news clips, and produce highlight content from media appearances and external events.
- Elevate surrogate and supporter-generated content.
Creative Oversight & Brand Cohesion
- Ensure consistency and authenticity across all visual materials—digital, print, and live events.
- Maintain brand standards and manage creative assets, including photography, video, and design files.
- Oversee creative execution for events, signage, and merchandise.
Collaboration & Team Coordination
- Work closely with Political team to identify compelling moments and capture Marie engaging with constituents.
- Manage one or more junior content staff and coordinate with external contractors when needed.
- Work alongside the Comms Director to ensure clarity and consistency across earned and digital media.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Strong videography and photography skills, including on-the-go capture.
- Video editing skills and experience producing for multiple platforms (TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube, Facebook, X).
- Demonstrated ability to tell compelling, authentic stories through video and digital media.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Deep familiarity with social platform ecosystems, trends, analytics, and best practices.
- Ability and willingness to travel frequently across the district and work non-traditional hours.
Preferred (but not required)
- Experience working on a political campaign, advocacy organization, or similar mission-driven team.
- Experience managing creative staff or contractors.
- Familiarity with paid digital tools for boosting and ad placement across platforms (Meta Business Manager, YouTube, etc.).
ENVIRONMENT AND EXPECTATIONS
World events, district issues, and campaign needs shift quickly. The Creative Director must be ready to:
- Travel to events and shoots across the district.
- Work evenings and weekends when needed.
- Turn around rapid-response content.
- Occasionally take on out-of-scope tasks in service of the campaign’s success.
The role will require relocation if not currently in Southwest Washington or nearby.
