Title: Finance Director
Location: Southwest Washington
Compensation: $8,000-$10,000/month
ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN
Marie Gluesenkamp Perez represents Washington’s 3rd Congressional District. She is a small business owner and mom of a toddler who flipped a Trump +4 district by showing up everywhere, actually listening to people, and focusing on the real-world problems of working people.
Marie For Congress is one of the most successful House campaigns in the country, developing and deploying innovative strategies, and winning, in some of the nation’s most competitive terrain.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Finance Director will lead the fundraising program for Marie For Congress. This role is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with donors, planning and executing fundraising events, coordinating with in-state and national fundraising partners, and ensuring that all fundraising operations are organized, accurate, and on schedule.
The Finance Director will develop reliable financial projections to support campaign planning, oversee donor database management, and help ensure that all fundraising activity complies with reporting and legal requirements. This is a senior role for someone who is organized, detail oriented, personable, and comfortable managing many moving parts in a fast paced campaign environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Fundraising Strategy and Planning
- Lead the campaign’s fundraising program and develop short term and long term finance plans.
- Create and maintain accurate fundraising projections to inform budget decisions and campaign strategy.
- Coordinate call time preparation including briefing materials, call sheets, donor background, and follow up tracking.
- Identify new donor prospects and expand the campaign’s fundraising network within the district, across Washington State, and nationally.
Donor Relations and Events
- Build and maintain strong relationships with individual donors and community hosts.
- Plan and execute in district fundraising events including house parties, meet and greets, and host committee events.
- Work with hosts and partners to ensure events are well organized, accessible, and aligned with campaign goals.
- Manage donor communication including thank you notes, follow up messages, and periodic updates.
Coordination with Fundraising Partners
- Collaborate with national and in state fundraising consultants, including PAC, digital, and direct mail firms.
- Coordinate the approval process for fundraising materials including digital solicitations, mail pieces, and event invitations.
- Partner with the Digital consultants and Creative Director to support online fundraising opportunities.
Data, Systems, and Compliance Support
- Oversee timely entry and maintenance of donor records, pledges, call time results, and event information.
- Ensure the donor database is accurate, current, and organized for efficient use by the candidate and senior staff.
- Work closely with the Treasurer and compliance officers to ensure all contributions are properly documented and reported.
- Maintain internal systems for tracking pledges, revenue, expenses, and cash flow to support financial decision making.
Management and Team Coordination
- Supervise finance staff or interns, and participate in hiring of other support roles as needed.
- Work closely with the Campaign Manager on strategic planning and budget alignment.
- Collaborate with political, field, creative, and digital teams to ensure fundraising activity aligns with the campaign schedule and organizational capacity.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Experience working in political fundraising or a comparable development role.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with donors, hosts, and partners.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with NGP or similar donor management software.
- Ability to create accurate projections and manage complex financial information.
- Comfort with donor databases and spreadsheet software.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to work non traditional hours and travel within the district.
Preferred
- Experience working on a congressional or statewide campaign.
- Familiarity with Washington State donor networks.
- Experience supervising staff.
ENVIRONMENT AND EXPECTATIONS
Campaign needs and district dynamics shift quickly. The Finance Director must be ready to:
- Travel to events and shoots across the district.
- Work evenings and weekends when needed.
- Occasionally take on out-of-scope tasks in service of the campaign’s success.
The role will require relocation if not currently in Southwest Washington or nearby.
